is firefox really the safest browser (ie: spyware, popups, etc). i havent had any probs, im just wonderin

johkalhaups- 03-19-2005
i know that if it isnt the safest, its prob up there. i have had ALOT less spyware/adware on my system since switching from ie and i hardly ever get a pop-up anymore!

ya same here. wats a good email proggy 2 stop junk mail? i want advanced settings like blocking only certain senders and allowin others cuz i get some emails that it may think r junk but they r newsletters and stuff. would Thunderbird b good? (its the firefox-type email thing)

all hail firefox... and it's awesomeness, I've never had a spyware problem since. I've never tried out this thunderbird but I use something called Incredimail.

johkalhaups- 03-19-2005
i like thunderbird alot better than outlook express. maybee its b/c its from the same people that made firefox and i like supporting stuff like that.

I don't believe there is a truly safe browser, they all come with that possible danger of getting infected and exploding your hard-drive. It's every computer users worst nightmare and there is no 100% safe browser out there to prevent it.

I would say that it is MUCH safer than IE, but you can never guarantee 100%. Also, I am using Outlook Express and wouldn't change because I have my hotmail running through it & I don't know if I can run my (free) hotmail account through FireFox

i dont think you can get your hotmail through firefox, but im pretty sure you can w/thunderbird. thunderbird is mozilla's outlook express. if you want to try it out, click the thunderbird link at the bottom of my main page. smile.gif

Yes, I believe so. I would also agree wth the above comments, Firefox does seem to be safer.

YES! Firefox is VERY safe. And, it blocks just about every pop-up for free! I haven't gotte any pop-ups for weeks. Firefox is highly reccomended.

I must say that Firefox is very good, except for the nasty inability to do the bold, italic with the click of the buttons on FORUMER when text is selected like IE does. I find the pictures load faster because the browser calculates the download time ahead of time, the pop-ups are securely block and it gives you advance option for receiving notice than IE does. So I'm going to keep it handy, although I'm still using IE. I'll switch back and forth from time to time.

what version of firefox are you usin? i can do that just fine on forumer and i have v1.0.4.

Jaye- 06-21-2005

I believe it is the most recent version from Mozilla. I don't know, maybe it was a temporary relay, I will have to try again. However, generally, when I want to bold something, instead of wasting time making the tags one by one. I just select the word and press the bold key. However, when I did it with Firefox the other day, it would only open the tag, which mean I would have to press again to close it.
