I right now have an old 533 Mhz Compaq and Im in the proccess of upgrading my computer piece by piece. I already have an Athlon XP 2000+ processor, a 80 gb hard drive, an old, but still works, graphics card (<- next thing Im going to upgrade), a 420 watt power supply, 512 mb of DDR RAM (2x 256 mb for dual channel memory), and a Thermaltake Volcano 9 heatsink and fan, and a CDRW. I just bought a new motherboard and case yesterday with the money I got from my birthday last monday. I cant wait to get my motherboard and case so I can throw it all together.
